How to Plan a Romantic Picnic

PLAN A ROMANTIC PICNIC

  • Find an old-fashioned picnic basket, It must be a basket because this is as romantic as it gets. Ensure that the plates are made well and have real cutlery, not tacky plastic.

  • Use real champagne (sparkling wine) glasses which will mean careful carrying but glass is far more romantic than perspex. And be sure to bring the champagne or sparkling wine to fill those glasses.

  • Plan the menu with care and love. Strawberries are important, as they are romantic foods for a picnic. Have dainty sandwiches, delicate fruits, small cuts of meats and vegetables, some pickles and sauces, and some fine gourmet treats like caviar or truffles.

  • Always take dark chocolate of the finest quality

  • Ensure that there is something very comfortable and luxurious to lie down on. Be sure that it's clean and not itchy. Look for romantic blankets, not ones that come from auto stores.

  • Dress up. A romantic picture should recollect picnics of yore, when people wore bowler hats, long flowing dresses, and button-up boots. Just wear your best and ask your beloved to wear his or her best too. And take a sun hat; sunburn isn't romantic.

  • Music is an important part of the romantic atmosphere.

  • Have something fun to do, like playing croquet or bocce. An easy, non-strenuous game adds to the enjoyment of the romantic picnic.
